Purpose Polystreptavidin R is a coating solution concentrate with extraordinary high Biotin binding capacity
Specificity Streptavidin binds very tightly to the small molecule Biotin. Streptavidin coating of solid phase’s offers a universal immobilization principle for the detection and analysis of proteins, peptides, PCR-fragments, haptens etc., which must be present in a biotinylated form. As a further development BioTeZ offers a polymerized Streptavidin, the Polystreptavidin R, characterized by an extraordinary high Biotin binding capacity. Coatings made of Polystrept R combine the excellent binding capacity with a high chemo and thermo stability. It is very suitable for coating membranes, beads, biochips, plastics etc.
Characteristics This is a polymerized Streptavidin (molecular weight >2.000 kDa), the Polystreptavidin R, characterized by an extraordinary high Biotin binding capacity. Polystreptavidin R is a coating solution concentrate. It has a very high chemo- and thermostability, excellent adsorption capabilities and low unspecific bindings. Polystreptavidin R coatings serve the functionalization of surfaces to bind biotinylated compounds with a Biotin binding capacity of the type "Maximum Capacity". It is very suitable for adsorptive coating membranes, beads, microfluidic systems, biochips, microplates etc. The coating surfaces may be made of the following materials: Nitrocellulose, ceramics or plastics like Polystyrene, Polyethylene, Polypropylene, Polycarbonate, Poly(methyl methacrylate) PMMA or Polyamides. Of particular note are the enormous savings of material and costs when using Polystreptavidin R instead of Streptavidin for coating membranes for lateral flow tests.
Application Notes Use Polystreptavidin for coating of solid phases (e.g., membranes, microplates, beads etc.) as well with biotin-labeled haptens and antibodies in universal immunological detection systems. Polystreptavidin R is to be used in diluted form. For this, use a neutral buffer solution (e.g. phosphate buffered saline, PBS). Avoid basic solutions above?pH 8. The coating concentration has to be optimized for the respective application.

10 – 50 μg/mL for coating of microplates
10 – 200 μg/mL for coating of biochips, beads, membrans etc.
